Carbon-free level
Carbon-free share classified as low, moderate or high relative to the zone's own recent average.
Level endpoints answer "is now a good time?" without the caller having to pick a threshold: the carbon-free share is compared against what is normal for that zone, so the same classification is meaningful in a grid that sits at 40 gCO2eq/kWh and in one that sits at 600.
Classification
The reference is the mean of the zone's daily averages over the 10 days ending the day before the datapoint. Each datapoint is then classified by its ratio to that reference:
| Ratio to the 10-day average | level |
|---|---|
| Below 0.85 | low |
| 0.85 to 1.15 | moderate |
| Above 1.15 | high |
low means a smaller carbon-free share than usual, high means a larger one.
If you need the underlying value rather than its classification, use /carbon-free-energy.
